Creativity and Expression
At Aurinko, we believe that creative expression is a basic human need. Therefore, we dedicate ourselves to connecting children and teachers with their ability to create and express themselves. Creative expression is a key process of experiential learning.
Aurinko creates opportunities for children to access their innate creativity and expression, including discoveries in academic concepts, art, and events. Hence, they become intrinsically motivated to learn and be fully engaged in life.
The principles of creative thinking apply to all subjects, not just in arts. Therefore, we encourage our students to think of many ideas and use their imagination, irrespective of the subject/topic. We have experienced that children adept at brainstorming and creative problem-solving bring extra resourcefulness to all their pursuits.
Playfulness, Bliss, and Fun
Children construct some of their most important learning through play.
A typical day at Aurinko is brimming with fun, spontaneity and inter-generational silliness. In doing so, we provide an environment with a powerful connection to the joy of being alive.
Through play and appropriately drawing out the children’s inner selves, we encourage each child to learn to question, engage and think critically about possibilities.
When there is fun, the child feels light, happy and open. Experiential Learning comes easily and willingly.
Global and Environmental Exploration
A lot of what we do at Aurinko focuses on the four R’s – Refuse, Reduce, Reuse and Recycle.
Our program helps children become aware of and respect the world in which they live. Therefore, children’s connection to the environment and their relationships with different cultures help them have opportunities to discover who they are and what they do. These opportunities aid them in assessing the impact they have at a global level.
We believe that helping children connect with nature in all its beauty, complexity, and fragility contributes immensely to their creative, intellectual and emotional development. We also believe that global citizens of the 21st century have an unprecedented responsibility to be actively engaged in the effort to protect the environment.
We have wholehearted support from the Aurinko family of parents and well-wishers. Therefore, we present our students with numerous ways to explore our planet’s ecosystems to discover how humans influence these ecosystems.
Children explore nature and environmental themes through organic gardening, field trips, science experiments, art projects and other tactile experiences.
We ensure we embed Recycling initiatives into all aspects of our life at Aurinko thus helping children learn the concepts of conservation and sustainability.
Multiple Perspectives and Differentiated Learning Styles
We believe intellectual development flows most naturally and effectively when the curriculum and methodologies are child-centric. Therefore, at Aurinko, teachers adapt their instruction to the learning styles of each child. Of course, not all aspects of the curriculum will be determined by children’s specific interests, but we try to accommodate as much as possible.
Our teachers also carefully consider every child’s individual needs, learning styles, backgrounds, strengths and vulnerabilities. We believe that students learn in diverse ways and move through developmental stages at different rates and should be supported accordingly.
Standardized evaluative measures of intelligence are too narrow and may sometimes fail to detect the complete range of a child’s true gifts. Keeping this in mind, our teachers seek varied approaches and diverse points of entry into subjects. They engage the students by using the modes and styles of learning that suit them best. We want to ensure that, as we challenge children to stretch and grow in new directions, we also help them stay connected to their passions.
Self-Awareness and Well-Being
Our program aims to create awareness in children about how their bodies and thought processes connect to a personal sense of health, efficacy and resilience.
Accordingly, we support children in developing a mind-body connection through an environment dedicated to physical activity, emotional processing, and healthy life habits. We aim to instil a passion for wellness that spans mental, physical, emotional and spiritual areas that lasts a lifetime.
We develop an awareness of emotions and thought processes, binding “Emotional Intelligence” into our curriculum. Components are designed and facilitated to help children develop patience, perseverance, tolerance and impulse control. This approach will empower them to meet the demands of daily life and capacities such as empathy, compassion and honesty.
In every interaction/activity, our teachers look for ways to help children identify processes and express their emotions in healthy and productive ways. We appreciate the influential role that emotions can play in the learning process. As a result, we help children learn how to modulate their feelings and channel them into various forms of expression.
Family and Community Connection
Children flourish when deep human connections permeate all aspects of their lives.
Our children build social skills that allow them to thrive in their relationships throughout their lives.
The Aurinko community creates experiential learning opportunities for children. It helps them to practice mutual respect, cooperation, leadership, mentoring, listening, personal integrity, valuing differences, conflict resolution and other crucial social skills. Our close-knit community provides plenty of opportunities to practice these social skills.
We invite parents and teachers to bring their passions and interests to the program. We understand that everyone is on a journey of growth and development. We have learned from experience that collaborations make the learning process more enriching for parents. Children also benefit by seeing adults collaborating and demonstrating the lifelong “love of learning” that our program strives to instil.
We arrange Parent Engagement Programs and Guest lectures throughout the year. These sessions range from Cooking Sessions, Sports, and Finance, to Ecology.
