According to a recent UN report on quality education – Quality education empowers individuals, gives them a voice, unlocks their potential, opens pathways to self-actualization, and broadens perspectives to open minds to a pluralist world. There is no one definition, list of criteria, a definitive curriculum, or list of topics for quality education. Quality education is a dynamic concept that changes and evolves with time and changes in the social, economic, and environmental contexts of a place.
As per Sustainability Development Goal 4 (SDG4) definition, quality education is about ensuring inclusive and equitable quality education and promoting lifelong learning opportunities for all – Achieving inclusive and quality education for all reaffirms the belief that education is one of the most powerful and proven vehicles for sustainable development. This goal ensures that all girls and boys complete free primary and secondary schooling by 2030. It also aims to provide equal access to affordable vocational training and to eliminate gender and wealth disparities with the aim of achieving universal access to a quality higher education.
To ensure we can provide quality education – at Aurinko Academy, we have devised a 5A methodology that has worked well with every student we have worked with. The 5A stands for – Access, Assess, Appreciate, Adapt and Achieve. This methodology is the magic dust that we sprinkle on our students to excel in their lives and be prepared for tomorrow.
Access
Infrastructure is the spine of any school without which no school can be made stand on its own. Schools imparting quality education, have access to world-class infrastructure facilities and committed teachers who provide high-level academic experiences, career preparation, and character growth opportunities to all of our students. The teachers are also enabled with technology to teach the 21st-century student – who is exposed to social media platforms, smart devices, and interactive media.
We at Aurinko Academy ensure that all these are available to the student. On a campus spread over 2 acres, the school boasts of an open infrastructure that enables learning. We have access to worldwide mentors, quality teachers, counselors, state of art fully equipped physics, chemistry, biology, computer, English, Maths, Social Science, and Makerspace, and a rich repository of books and learning aids. The teachers are best-in-class in the city and are handpicked. The teachers are committed to ensuring our students excel in their goals. To ensure we are able to provide all the enablers to our students, a combination of smart technology and also access to Subject Matter Experts (SMEs) to teach concepts effectively. Our rich advisory board members enable our students to get exposure and offer internships in various diverse fields.
Assess
Every school works towards doing all that is necessary to assure the success of every child. One of the ways to ensure that s student can meet his/her goal is to achieve grade-level proficiencies across all areas of the curriculum – academic, social-emotional, and physical learning and development. Assessments also assess accurately the current learning methods and how students understand core concepts while learning.
At Aurinko Academy, we ensure every student has a goal sheet mapped, where we assess the child and the goal he/she has set for the next 5 years. We assess the student for their understanding of the concepts and a psychological profile is created by a certified student counselor. Using these two inputs we create a growth map chart, where personalized attention – such as booster hours, super Saturday programs, and competitive coaching will be provided for every child in helping him/her reach their goals.
Appreciate
Typically when you look at high schools, you see that most of the students do not truly put forth a full effort. I hear students constantly complaining about how the school makes their lives so hard. If you think life with school is hard, try life without it. We are the lucky ones who are given the chance to go to school and improve our lives.
At Aurinko Academy, students get to learn new information; they broaden their horizons. We are focused on academic excellence and have implemented Howard Gardner’s multiple intelligence theory – this helps us appreciate all the intelligences, learn about our student’s strengths, and work with them through scholastic and co-scholastic activities to develop these strengths in conjunction with the other intelligences.
Adapt
Educationists say helping new students adapt to the new school environment is an important prerequisite for achieving education goals as this impacts academic performance. Students need to be empowered and educated about the many opportunities and alternate career opportunities available.
Aurinko Academy staff and the mentors help build an ecosystem that helps student adapt to the new school and also understand the teaching technique. A series of ice-breaking sessions and regular child and teacher and child and parent meetings help create an open channel that helps the student to adapt to the new surrounding and also give him/her the required encouragement and support to excel in what they have set their mind on. We train students to adapt to newer formats of exams (Both board and Competitive exams) coming up and make sure student outcomes are not affected by changes in the environment.
Achieve
According to the POD Research report: Researchers note the relationship between setting challenging goals and student achievement. Both laboratory and field studies consistently demonstrated decades ago that setting specific and challenging goals leads to enhanced performance. In addition to the immediate increased student achievement resulting from setting goals, completing challenging goals is also closely related to increased self-esteem and self-efficacy.
At Aurinko Academy, we help our students to achieve long-term and short-term goals. By working one on one with the child, we become a partner in planning and reviewing the student’s achievements. Every student in our school is attached to a mentor. The mentor has a view of the student’s capabilities and strongly influences the students in their ability to achieve their goals. We also focus on all energies to ensure our students get into the best ivy-league colleges in India or outside India. We help with tools, tips, techniques, mentoring, and coaching we help them through their board exams and competitive exams.
